Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

How Radiofrequency Ablation Works

During the procedure:

  • A specialized needle is placed near the targeted nerve
  • Controlled radiofrequency energy generates heat
  • The heat disrupts the nerve’s ability to transmit pain signals

By interrupting these pain signals, RFA can significantly reduce chronic spine pain.

Benefits of Radiofrequency Ablation

  • Long-lasting pain relief (typically 6–18 months or longer)
  • Minimally invasive outpatient procedure
  • Little downtime and quick recovery
  • Reduced reliance on pain medications
  • Improved mobility and daily activity

Radiofrequency ablation can be performed in the cervical, thoracic, or lumbar spine depending on the location of the pain.
